2Ring in cooperation with its partner NextiraOne Poland deployed an 2Ring IPPS (IP Phone Services) application at the pharmaceutical industry leader in Poland, Sanofi-Aventis.

Sanofi-Aventis was looking for a user friendly solution for central storage of corporate contacts (internal extensions, employee mobile numbers as well as business partner / company client external contacts). The solution was to be easily integrated into the company’s intranet and fully integrated with Cisco IP telephony – by providing a service for searching contacts directly from employee desktop phones or by providing an option to make a call directly from the web user interface (click2dial). Furthermore, caller identification was required based on corporate and private contacts stored in the central storage while this identification was to be available for reviewing a user’s missed calls directly on the Cisco IP phone.

Based on these requirements, NextiraOne Poland, a leading systems integrator on Polish market, recommended that the customer deploy 2Ring IPPS (IP Phone Services) application. Application version 4.2, including the Base module, Clip and Synchronization module met all the customer’s requirements and contained additional features focused on delivering increased convenience to Cisco IP telephony users in the package.

The application’s core, the base module, has delivered phone books (corporate and personal) that contain not only internal extension numbers but also external contact numbers acquired by regular synchronization with the company’s corporate information system. Phone numbers can now be searched directly from phones or a web user interface by entering appropriate information (name, surname, …) within one or all address books to which the user has access rights. A short description is displayed in addition to numbers which allows the selection of the correct participant. Another outstanding extension of original Cisco IP telephony was the deployment of a CLIP module that secures incoming internal/external call information and additional identifiers, such as company name or caller’s name, are all displayed directly on the phone. The source of incoming call information is IPPS itself while availability of up-to-date data is provided by a synchronization module which allows contacts to be obtained from several sources, such as LDAP (MS Active Directory, Open LDAP, DC directories on CUCN), MS Exchange or Lotus Notes.

Krzysztof Wykret, IS manager for Sanofi-Aventis, highly appreciated the services delivered by 2Ring’s IPPS application, “I personally cannot imagine Cisco IP telephony without IPPS address books and caller identification.”
IPPS application contributions to Sanofi-Aventis can be broken down into following items:

  • Easy access to corporate and personal contacts directly from the IP phone of every employee
  • Ability to authenticate access to address books after entering PIN code
  • Individual language settings for web interface as well as phone interface
  • Easy import of personal contacts from MS Outlook
  • Central contact collection and synchronization after integration with ActiveDirectory or alternatively another IS
  • Caller information availability (even for phone calls from external and mobile phone numbers)
  • Elimination of intensive checking of missed callers by the employee has missed the call
